World Diabetes Day, organized by the International Diabetes Federation (IDF) and supported by the World Health Organization (WHO) is the primary global awareness campaign of the diabetes world. It was first introduced in 1991 in response to concern over the escalating incidence of diabetes around the world. Since then, it has grown in popularity and now unites more than 350 million people worldwide including opinion leaders, health-care professionals, carers, people with diabetes, and the general public.
世界糖尿病日由国际糖尿病联盟组织，由世界卫生组织资助，是第一个发起全球关注糖尿病的活动。世界糖尿病日于1991年为关注全球糖尿病患病率的不断上升而诞生。从那以后便开始广为流行，到现在共联合了35000多万人，包括领导者、卫生保健专业人员、护理人员、糖尿病患者及一般公众。

World Diabetes Day is celebrated every year on 14 November. The date was chosen as it is the birthday of Frederick Banting who, along with Charles Best, first conceived the idea which led to the discovery of insulin in 1922. While many events take place on or around the day itself, themed campaigning is spread over the whole year.
世界糖尿病日定于每年11月14日举行，这一天是Frederick Banting的生日，Frederick Banting和Charles Best首次提出的理念以致于他们在1922年发现了胰岛素。虽然许多活动在这一天或临近几天举行，但主题活动将在全年里进行。

World Diabetes Day is celebrated worldwide by the more than 190 member associations of the International Diabetes Federation in over 150 countries, as well as by other associations and organizations, healthcare professionals and individuals with an interest in diabetes. IDF member associations develop an extensive range of activities, tailored to a variety of groups. Activities organized each year include:
